THEREMONIC
Produced by Emergence Collective in collaboration with Abstract Human Radio.
Theremonic explored the body through technology: bringing together installation and performance artists to present a range of styles and approaches.
The exhibition featured work from eight emerging artists, including digital interactive works, sculpture, projection and installation artworks, as well as the premiere of my performance work with Lauren Sherlock: ‘The Human Theremin Project’.
Throughout four performances over two nights, Lauren and I explored interactive improvisation, acting and reacting to one another’s movement and sound mediated through the technology. Through the Human Theremin System, Lauren’s movement controlled elements of my synthesiser, allowing us to create music through dance. Additionally, abstract body representation projections complemented the work and revealed how the technology interpreted the body in space.
The Human Theremin Project is proudly sponsored by the Creative Sparks Program; an initiative of Brisbane City Council in partnership with Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
